How To Connect With Your Tarot Deck

So you’ve bought your first tarot deck and want to connect with it before you start practicing.

You need to take a few steps before you start doing readings on yourself and, most importantly, others!

Go Through Each Card

Go through your entire deck and examine the illustrations on the card. Pay close attention to details and ask yourself how each card makes you feel. This allows you to get familiar with the names, meanings, and emotions of the cards.

Talk To Your Deck

Introduce yourself to your deck! This might sound a little silly, but it helps kick start the bond between you and your deck. Tell it your name, a bit of yourself, and what you hope to get out of using the deck.

Sleep With Your Deck

Once you’ve done your introductions and set your intentions, you’re going to want to wait a few days before you start doing daily readings. Place the deck under your pillow at night to increase the spiritual bond you’ll have together.

Choose Appropriate Crystals To Associate With Your Deck

Based on how the deck makes you feel, pick out a few crystals that will then sit on top of your deck. For example, I chose citrine for confidence and motivation and rose quartz for love and self-love.

Daily Card Readings

After you’ve gotten to know your deck, you can now start to do daily card pulls. This is a great way to learn about the cards and get used to connecting with the deck. I recommend doing this before you start your day; ask your deck, “what kind of day am I going to have today?”

By doing these things, you’ll successfully create a strong bond with your tarot deck, which will allow more messages to come through. It will also make your readings more accurate!
