Like many people, I’ve decided to avoid giving my money to big corporations as much as I can and shop small. Whenever I want to treat myself or a friend/significant other, I try to buy from small businesses. So, if you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for more independent shops to support; here are a few that I’ve fallen in love with.
This is a small hand-made bag boutique sourced entirely out of Vancouver. The owner is a 17-year-old girl named Carina; she is exceptionally talented, kind and puts love into each bag. She offers various tote-style bags, but they are made entirely out of this irresistible fuzzy fabric. This style is very trendy right now especially with young people. My personal favourite is the brown bear fuzzy tote, and I wear it with almost every single outfit. I highly recommend this shop since the bags are made so well, and you’re supporting a young Here are the bags I own from her so far: entrepreneur to reach her dreams. From top to bottom there is the snowy leopard tote, brown bear tote, and cheetah mini purse.
This is my go-to shop for hippie/bohemian style jewelry. This business is run by a young girl sourced out of Ottawa and sells everything from necklaces, rings, and earrings. Her pieces are all unique and hand-made; she also does customs! I recommend you check her shop out if you’re into crystals because most of her designs include genuine stones in them.

This might be my favourite of the three because everything in this shop is so compelling to me. Tunnel Vision is a small online retail store sourced in L.A (I know they’re not Canadian but I could resist adding it). An individual owns the shop in their 30’s, and they sell a large variety of unique pieces and designs. The cool thing about this shop is that they sell a mix of their own ethically made clothing and jewelry (all sweatshop-free and made in L.A), and rare vintage finds. Their products are on the pricier side, but that’s only because they were ethically made. I urge you to visit their website if you’re into alternative fashion. They have it all!
